The event began around 11:40 a.m., Tuesday required at least 10 City of Poughkeepsie police officers to respond to the school after the fight broke out and for officials to put the school on lockdown, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Calls and emails to the Poughkeepsie Superintendent Nicole Williams were not returned when Daily Voice inquired about the reason for the fights.

City of Poughkeepsie police also did not return calls regarding the matter.

Williams told the Journal: "there was an external threat" that caused officials to have the school in a "shelter-in-place" until the threat was contained.

Police told the Journal they "didn't have any information" or whether any charges were filed.
